ONLINE DO SAG ANALYSIS
DESCRIPTION
Online DO sag analysis is an online program to calculate the minimum dissolved oxygen concentration DO_min (mg/L) and its location X (km or mi) along a given stream, in response to an input effluent biochemical oxygen demand D_e and a ratio of effluent discharge to stream discharge Q_e/Q_s.
The program produces a double-entry table of DO_min as a function of D_e (vertical) and Q_e/Q_s (horizontal).
The program may be used to find:

D_e, given Q_e/Q_s and DO_min.
Q_e/Q_s, given D_e and DO_min.
DO_min, given D_e and Q_e/Q_s.

The program uses the following values of D_e (mg/L):
10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000.
The program uses the following values of Q_e/Q_s:
0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, and 1.
INPUT
The program will run in default mode without the need to input any data (leave input boxes blank).
The input deoxygenation constant k_d (day^-1) may be specified. The default value (leave input box blank) is: k_d = 0.2 day^-1. The allowable range is 0.1-1.0 day^-1. [A value of 0 is permitted as default].
The input oxygenation constant k_o (day^-1) may be specified. The default value (leave input box blank) is: k_o = 0.6 day^-1. The allowable range is 0.1-1.0 day^-1. [A value of 0 is permitted as default].
The input water temperature T (^oC or ^oF) may be specified. The default value (leave input box blank) is: T = 20^oC (68^oF). The allowable range is 0-40^oC (32-104^oF). [A value of 0 is permitted as default in U.S. Customary Units].
The input ratio of dissolved oxygen upstream to dissolved oxygen at saturation O_s/S_s may be specified. The default value (leave input box blank) is: O_s/S_s = 0.9. The allowable range is 0.5-0.99. [A value of 0 is permitted as default].
O_s is the actual value of dissolved oxygen concentration (mg/L) in the stream, immediately upstream of the location of effluent discharge.
S_s is the value of dissolved oxygen concentration (mg/L) at saturation for the specified input temperature. This value is set at zero salinity and mean sea level.
The input stream velocity v (m/s or ft/s) may be specified. The default value is: v = 1 m/s (3.28 ft/s). The allowable range is 0.25-4 m/s (0.82-13.12 ft/s). [A value of 0 is permitted as default].
